Programs
Gallery
We currently operate a contemporary art gallery & studio on Frankford Avenue located in the Kensington neighborhood of North Philadelphia. Programming includes: exhibitions, artist meetups, film screenings, artist talks & salon style conversations, & gallery visits.
Permanent Collection
We buy and collect work from artists at various stages in their career. This allows us yet another way to provide direct financial support to artists and affords us the opportunity to build a collection of contemporary abstract art that's unique. Our ultimate goal is to build a distinct collection of work that can travel around the country for exhibitions at art institutions and does what prominent collector Pamela J. Joyner advises: "Figure out where the vacuum is, where the void is, where the need is. So whatever the void is, find the need and fill the gap.”
Free Art Bin
We have bins of small, original abstract artworks made by Black & Brown womxn artists that are 100% free to the public. They’re placed outside of our gallery during open hours and occasionally at various locations around the city of Philadelphia-you know, guerrilla style!
Publications
Our publications are designed to center not just the work of abstract artists of color, but their perspectives, and critical analysis of abstraction by arts administrators of color.
Our flagship publication, Abstractions Magazine, is a digital & quarterly print art publication offering in-depth profiles of womxn identifying & non-binary artists of color creating abstract work, and editorials on abstraction in modern art through a WOC centered perspective & feminist lens.
