We originally planned to expand on the street art campaign by doing art-making workshops in places around the city, which would have allowed us the opportunity to introduce these artists and their work to various communities and give people an opportunity to experiment with making abstract art. COVID-19 changed those plans, but months later, we decided to reimagine those plans by creating this small activity book. We partnered with artist Symone Salib again to feature 3 more artists in addition to the other 6: the phenomenal Chakaia Booker. Mildred Thompson, and Candida Alvarez. In addition to coloring the illustrations, you’ll find a word search with names of abstract artists we think you will love learning about and following as much as we do. There are also pages designed by our creative director Abbie Beach that you can use for art journaling, doodling, coloring, or for whatever else your own creative impulses imagine. Lastly, when viewing the coloring book on your computer, be sure to check the QR code with your phone for a surprise.
