Our inaugural print issue was released in Spring 2021.
This issue features 186 pages of interviews, essays, reviews, and artwork. Interviews highlight artists Shinique Smith, Christa David, Raisa Kabir, Soyoung Kim, Ashante Kindle, and more. Essays include personal reflections on Bernice Bing, Alma Thomas, Mildred Thompson, and other Black and brown women and non-binary pioneers of abstraction.

About Abstractions:
Centers women and non-binary abstract artists of color in the mainstream conversation around abstraction in modern art by elevating their contributions to it;
Highlights unknown, self-taught artists as well as those who are emerging and established;
Gives these artists space to craft, drive, and share their own narratives, insights, and commentary about their practices, work, and abstraction.
Provides thoughtful (but accessible) analysis on the history of abstraction;
Gives curators, critics, and collectors of color space to share their perspectives, expertise, and scholarship on abstraction;
Provides the public an exposure to and understanding of abstraction that's accessible.
